Blog Post # 7 - The Best Camera

The Best Camera for My Scene Assignment

For my scene assignment I was really interested in working with a DSLR camera. I used a JVC in the past and was very familiar with it, so I wanted to expand my knowledge. Brandon and I chose The Cannon T2i, at first because FS100 was unavailable so we got the next best (available) thing.

It took both Brandon and I a little time to get use to it but we survived. The hardest thing to me was white balancing. We had to take a picture then white balance (WB). It was so much harder than just holding up a white card and pressing the WB button. White Balancing scares me from my last project (it was blue because i didn't WB) therefore I prefer to WB the way i know best. Another problem was that we didn't have an external monitor and we had to rely on the screen on the back of the camera. We then misjudged lighting in my final scene and it was just way too dark. Made me really dad but we did a little color correcting to make it better. Lesson learned.

Overall I liked using the camera. I would definitely use it again. The first three scenes were beautiful. Further when I got the hang of it t was really easy to use. I also like the weight of it when i was doing handheld shots.
